What does a chiropractor do?

As Chiropractors, we focus on the framework of bones and muscles that support the body (the musculoskeletal system). We assess disorders with joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they may have on the nerves inside the body (or nervous system).

How do we do it?

The term “Chiropractic” is Greek and translates as “done by hand”. Depending on your diagnosis, your treatment may involve gentle manipulation or mobilisation of parts of your spine and joints. In addition, as Chiropractors we will be looking in detail at your lifestyle and help you to make choices about exercises, self-help, diet, posture and any psychological considerations. A rehabilitation plan will be discussed with you (according to your diagnosis) to help achieve a long lasting recovery and results.

General Chiropractic Council

Chiropractic is a Primary Healthcare Profession, so you do not need to be referred by your General Practitioner (GP). Chiropractic does not involve the use of drugs or surgery. As with theMedical and Dental Professions, The Chiropractic Profession is statutorily regulated through the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). It is illegal to call yourself a “Chiropractor” without being registered with the GCC
